Ming being crushed by Ninja during sparring flow #
I have spent the better part of the last 30 years working and refining methods for training the individual—not regurgitating cookie-cutter movements and repetitive methods that continually get passed down from one generation to the next.
Those standards of training are the very definition of non-alive. Conformity. Losing the individual in the mass of the group, eventually making the individual only an arm of the group and not a fully, functional and alive, dynamic person.
Every one of the students I’ve trained over the years comes out a unique fighter. A unique, adaptable individual who can utilize their whole body, mind, and heart to overcome obstacles. To overcome resistance—even within ourselves.
I currently have people all over the world training some of the methods I detail on my YouTube channel, using techniques and methods of blending functional elements that no one had thought could work together—and with good reason! The mentality of systems as they are taught are to continue the system. Not to change or improve it, but to replicate it in the host of students they process through their doors.
The mentality of Core JKD is to improve you. The individual. To give you non-traditional methods and techniques that provide the maximum functionality your whole being can produce.
My goal is to help you become a creating, dynamic focus of change in your own and other people’s lives. I give you the fundamental tools that are the baseline of functionality for humans, for individuals, with the capacity to break out of the traditional mold to become someone who can truly express themselves in combat or in other areas of life.
You’ve see it all around you. People have been getting wise to this functional thing. It’s not hard to find people who’ve trained or are training in multiple systems and schools of tradition in order to find something that works for them in a real fight.
The problem with this is that each system—with exceptions to some exceptional teachers, who themselves are trying to break away—wants you ingrained in the system. To promote the system.
I want to promote you. The creating dynamic individual. To do otherwise is a waste of your time and mine.
Some people come to me who have trained in 5 systems and are still looking for functionality. Their training history is the definition of a waste of their time.
That doesn’t mean they haven’t learned something. They have. And that’s why they moved to a different system.
That’s because many systems act as islands of egotism. Their art is the most powerful. The most capable. They are better than everyone else.
Just don’t go testing yourself against people in other arts.
The people who are seeking like this—and you may be one of them—are Core JKD people. Rebel Wing Chun people.
They want functionality.
They want to do away with the traditional cement blocks tied to their feet so they can swim freely in new ideas, thoughts, and personal expression—in any direction.
When you base a system on techniques and the traditions of someone’s ego, you lose the creative interconnectedness required for teaching individuals—who by their very nature are unique, creatively expressing beings. This is assuming they haven’t accepted the hammering of themselves into shapes that leave nothing of their originality behind.
Some people think that you train for function by rote memorization and mind-numbing repetition.
They truly don’t know what they don’t know.
They accept what sounds right, but after 15 years of training and not being able to defend themselves, they realize that something’s not right.
They look around. They dismiss the high-pressure sales tactics of the next school they visit, because they’ve been down that road.
They view videos online that show completely different ways of training and people who are truly functional against other resisting people with intent.
They might come across my YouTube channel and see this.

They speak for themselves.
People are funny, though. Many of them who don’t know what they want also have in their head how they think they should be trained.
And with that, they continue to walk the earth seeking.
